Problems with fuel pump/MK2 GTI Golf 8v
« on: 12 April 2010, 20:16 »
hi to whomever's reading!!

my fuel pump is leaking petrol like there's no tomorrow so ive had it taken off and it looks like the screw has expanded and cracked the casing of where the internal pump slides in (seems like a common fault).

im having trouble sourcing another unless i pay extortionate prices within the Birmingham area.
i did manage to buy off ebay for a great price of £25 but the inlet/outlet valve was broken, is there anyway of repairing this?
any ideas on how i could repair/replace the unit?

Thanks in advance!!

I'd just get a new one from VW:

165 201 042 A - casing for fuel pump - 37.62+VAT

Id also get a new seal and mounting screws, plus the rubber mounts as they like to split:

N   104 047 01 - oval head panel screw - 0.33+VAT x3
N   903 124 02 - o ring - 2.43+VAT
191 201 256 - bonded rubber mounting - 4.77+VAT

N   012 226 5 - washer - 0.10+VAT x8
N   011 006 36 - nut - 0.23+VAT x8

N   024 122 2 - fuel clamp - 1.26+VAT x3

Then some 7mm I/D fuel injection hose and a new fuel filter

you mean the nuts? if 1 is snapped its no big deal, 3 will be plenty. 2 will be fine tbh as long as they're diagonally opposite each other. its only a bt of stud on the floor so another one could be welded on if required
