Air con after having it refreshed!
« on: 12 April 2010, 09:22 »
At my last service the dealer did an air con refresh...Now yesterday I turned on the AC as it was quite warm in the car and it didn't reach that chill you'd expect for at least an hour and even then I wasn't convinced it was 100%. Does it need running in after this or have they bolloxed something up at the dealers??

could be a leak, they can do an ultra violent test to see if its leaking, but it aint cheap.

Are the fans behind the radiator spinning up when you turn on the AC?

Mine suffered a similar problem, though it had not had a recharge. The compressor needed replacing which was thankfully done for free, plus a 50% contribution to labour. Cost me £168 instead of £1K+.

a refresh is when they just clean out the ventilation with antibacterial agent and make it smell nice.

A recharge replaces the spent refridgerent in the AC system.

Yeah, you'd have noticed the additional cost had they carried out a recharge, probably £70ish.

Yep, you need it recharged as opposed to refreshed to see any improvment in your AC.
