gti front grill

hi there any ideas of how to clean and shine  up the honeycombed grill up on my gti .....lookin a bit shabby

I agree, even after washing it still does'nt look really clean. I spray on some 'Astonish' black shine restorer sold under various brands and different names. You still then have to polish up individually each little hexagonal slot! Looks better but still not brilliant. Anyone got any better ideas?

No problems with mine. Just give it a good wash with decent quality wash & wax & it's fine.

sounds sad but i spray back to black on a micro fibre cloth then stick me fingers through the holes lastes for a few weeks

Could try taking it out and using a house hold brush scrub it in a bucket of hot soapy water... That or the trick I've used for badges/alloys/small gaps is an old toothbrush. Any help..?

WD 40 !!  Try it..

I used to use WD40 but it can weaken plastics, causing them to crack.

There are four screws holding the grill down. Take then out and the grille unclips. removing the grille makes it easier to clean and dress.

I use muc-off 'Bike Spray' which i've use for some time on my motorbike plastics. Comes up like new and lasts for a few weeks. Simular to wd40 but plastic friendly

Use very thin layers, gives a nice deep shine that lasts well.  I've used it on interior trim too and it's great, works well on the plastic side skirts on the Golf too.

I find Back to Black etc are a bit of a false economy as they don't last very well.
