Tunen Remap ABT Revo....before after...
« on: 09 April 2010, 11:19 »
Hello,

I am considering an ABT VW upgrade meaning 30-40 BHP more...

Is there anybody with a ...before-after...experience.

For instance becomes the car more nervous and howabout behaviour in a congestion driving very slow...

Is the mod very noticable etc etc

My dealer is suggesting it to me as a compensation for forgetting the PDC.... :lipsrsealed:

I posted this on the 19th February on the 'Revo or Bluefin?' thread started by DasAuto.
Abt is the best without a doubt and this is my unanimous opinion also!

A synopsis from Car Magazine of a CUSTOM remap - "Most chip remaps/conversions are generic and don't take account that over a car's production run its ECU may be changed and the accompanying software codes updated, so one ECU generation could have several different software codes and there could be more than one ECU generation.
It is also worth noting that manufacturers sometimes factor in an ECU reflash as part of a car's service schedule, curing glitches or improving running characterestics. This would wipe any chip upgrades, so the upgrade software needs to be re-installed. You should find out from the dearlership if a reflash was due and was installed.
One company that especially tailors chip conversion/upgrade for each particular car is Abt, based in Leeds. Abt are the German tuners who run Audi's DTM team. The work meets Germany's tough TUV standards and the warranty matches the factory offering.
On a Scirocco 2.0TFSi they acheived 40 bhp and 44 lb ft hikes to 237 bhp and 251 lb ft for power and torque. Installation time 1 hour, Cost £1299." - Ben Barry, Car Magazine, March 2010

Hehe, so you've only had the car a week and you've already realised it's not powerful enough  I was exactly the same. Got mine remapped by Revo after just 6 weeks. Incomparably better in every respect except traction :embarassed:

Erik:

Get them to give you FOC: (1) The Abt re-map, (2) Rear parking sensors (dealer fit) and (3) Reversing Camera.

Now this would be a superb deal.

I am just the purveyor of this information.
Would it be possible for you to kindly advise Erik due to your greater knowledge on this topic?
He has been offered this as a substitute for his lack of front and rear parking sensors.
Should he or should he not Abt?

If it's free, sure! Just don't believe the hype. And certainly don't pay £1300 for it!

Thanks guys...

I sadly missed the call of the dealer yesterday...I must admit it makes me even a bit nervous what the outcome will be...

Mind you I would swear in court that my MK VI is a lot faster than my MK V already....I do not know howcome...

A minor is that in comfort doing say 60 mph there is a low sound in the cabin which is on the edge of noticable/annoying.....

Topher surely the ABT is not a hype...and you cannot speak of I hype if someone asks honest opinions from users...to choose from.

I am still contemplating a remap.
Why does the ABT remap cause twice as much when compare with Revo or Bluefin????

Basically, because they are greedy bustards!
