Knocking Sound
«

Hi guys,
I've noticed a knocking sound coming from the back of the car over the last few days. It's only noticeable when going quite slow over an uneven camber.
What could it be?
Suspension top mounts
Knackered shock
...?
Thanks,
Ben.

rear axle bushes
Just beat me to it, I was thinking same from what I have heard. Seems the Mk4 is famous for it along with quite a few other faults

Cool. Thanks guys. My mechanic mate is going to have quite a list thrown at him...
1) Fit rear aero wiper
2) Change headlight bulbs
3) Investigate slight leak on front passenger door (rain water keeps getting in)
4) Replace rear axle bushes (we think)

You can do the first 2 yourself surely
I think the rear bushes can be quite labour intensive so I hope you get on well with your mechanic

I might take a look at it then. Is there a step-by-step guide on here somewhere?

Could well be but I will talk you through it.
Have a look for the right spanner or socket set (probably 10/13 mm)
Immediately undo bolt
Make sure you remove wiper
Put new wiper on making sure you lay it flat where you want it to lay when at rest, then tighten bolt
