My old PD150 is dead!!!!
« on: 19 November 2004, 11:03 »
Well, not dead, but in a temporary coma!!

It expired at the weekend on the guy who had it off me.

He's not particularly technical, so I'm not exactly sure whats happened, but he told me that "A big pipe come of the radiator (think he means i/cooler) that goes to the engine, has broken and come loose with such force that its broken another two pipes as well."

He said it now struggles to do 20mph. Oops.

Its in VW now, they are saying parts and labour will cost just shy of ?600.00 Oh dear.

Wonder if the 67,000 miles of abusive I gave it had anything to do with it expiring early??

lol.. tdi's are known for popping off boost hoses, cant think which other 2 it might have forced off in the process though. ?600 seems a bit steep.. is it not still under warranty ?

Nope, warranty is 3 years or 60k, whichever comes first.

He's just heard back from VW after arguing for a contribution, bill is now down to under ?300, but its still bloody expensive.

Not sure what the pipes are either, the car is at a stealership near Basingstoke I think, otherwise I would have gone and had a look.

Apparently, one of these is a rubber pipe, one is plastic, and one is aluminium. Not sure waht they all are though, would need to see them.

If I had actually got to drive the Ferrari before it went bang, I'd agree, but that thing turned up at the new house and was badgered!!

S11eps,

I take my car to the Stealership in Basingstoke (as thats where i live) its called Martins.

There not the best as I reported a problem to them about my gearbox on about  a 30k serivce, the problem being it would not go into Reverse properly when u went straight into first from reverse it would grind like a B1tch......

so the car had its service and when i asked them about the gear box, they said its fine and you should'nt go from reverse to first whilst moving! I though hmm ok benefit of the doubt but i'll live with it.

Anyhoo, 2 months later the problem worsened so i took it back in and they said "hmm sorry mate, your going to need a new gear box" (you must consider my car was less that 12months old when this happened)
"so that'll be ?1600 pounds please"

Luckily it was eventually replaced under warranty and all was ok.

But...........i dont have much faith in them for future problems!!

Martins, they're the ones.

Matey really isn't happy with the servioce at all - he will not be taking it there for any more work/service etc.

Will be looking for a new stealership.

Feel sorry for him, because the service I got from my local dealer was absolutely A1, no complaints at all.
