VWKEV.. I thought the GTI ones were standard,,They are on the MK5...  :undecided:

Definately not as standard. If they are I didnt get mine.

FroGTi, 2 pics of my sill protectors [front and rear]

Thanks, Rick. They do look very high quality. Do they come pre-bent, as it were, or are they like big flat strips? Are they awkward to install, i.e. do you need to remove the rubber door seals, etc?

I'll see what Gulfstream's aluminium plates are like and then decide.

That just looks like thick vynle to me. You could goto a graphics place and get them to make/fit some of them for a fraction of what VW charge.

Sorry, but they really look quite cheap and horrid.

 am1w. The whole point of these is to prevent the sills getting scratched, the only time you can see them is when a door is open. They don't look as good as some of the ones posted agreed, but most of those are styling accessories rather than protectors. I don't agree that they look cheap and horrid. [They weren't cheap either at £110!] Wouldn't mind the MK5 ones with GTI on them instead though.

I don't think they look cheap and horrid either. They are actually quite subtle against the paintwork colour you have. A bit on the pricey side for me however

Agreed. Compared to the sexy R Line brushed aluminium ones, they're pretty dull, but that's why I like them. I want to protect the paintwork on my sills from the inevitable scuffs they receive (thanks, kids...). Yes, they're very expensive for what is basically 4 strips of thick vinyl, but I wouldn't say they look cheap & nasty, especially on grey.

Hey Gulf - did you ever complete the kick plates? My sills are getting a bit beaten and I'd like to sort something out.
The ones from VW look like they would work, but if you have somethng as good are your foot rests, I'd love those instead!

These look nicer but don't offer as much protection as a lot of my scratches are on the edge of the first "bend"
