Automatic Headlight Sensor

Looking for some experiences and opinions of the auto headlight settings on the Mk6? My headlights stay on in bright sunlight sometimes. Looks a bit stupid. What are the parameters for them to activate on or off and are they adjustable? Is the light sensor at the top of the windscreen?

Going in and out of tunnels seems to work OK and they switch off on exit into daylight but they seem very unpredictable. I heard a story recently of an accident being caused by an auto sensor as a right turner thought the other car was flashing them and t-boned into the innocent party - he didn't realise his auto headlight sensor had come on!

I know you MKVI boys' don't really like the direct comparison to us poor MKV owners, BUT
the running software is probably the same... so...

I find the auto wipers irritating as f00k... they seem to go mental in light drizzle and nothing in the pi*sing rain. The lights are the same, but they don't bother me.

Just my 2p.

Yes.
As for my headlights. As my front and rear lights are on all the time anyway because of the way the dealer setup my DRLs the only difference the 'auto' setting makes to my lights is switching on or off my instrument lighting  :grin:

Yes I've read your posts I think you will need to take the car into the dealership and let them take a look.

Sorry you are having so many problems hope it won't diminish your enjoyment of the car.

Hi Gizzy.

Car is super. Really love it. The red is quite an eye catcher!
Only problems are the instrument lighting being a bit crazy and a slight but annoying wind rustle at speed from the driver's door.
Garage knows about these and will sort them when I can get there sometime next week. They are quite fabulous and very helpful. I am lucky.

Yes, but the lovely German software thinks it knows better and overrides the setting if it rains harder.

Dear VW, can we have a non-automatic intermittent setting, please?
