Is WD40 safe to use as a cleaner in the engine bay?

Personally i wouldnt recommend it. I used to work for them and WD40 is a oil based formula and not a degreaser/cleaner.

I know alot of people use wd40 on there hoses etc to make them shine but over time this is not good as it will make the rubber weak.

Go for something like a 3in1 degreaser or autoglym engine degreaser.

I use a citrus cleaner, virosol its called got 25ltrs of it the other day so should last a while.

I use it on the engine, wheels, arches, cleaning plastics it great stuff imo been using it for years.

I've used AG engine and machine cleaner in the past, spray it on the engine/engine bay and work it with a rad brush/sponge then rinse off, but I always found that when drying it left white marks everywhere, a quick going over with a mf and it soon came off though, ready for some goulash to treat the plastics/rubber.

Yea as said ive used autoglym engine degreaser before too, worked a charm really! Followed then by auto glym vinyl and rubber care sprayed on to the black plastics and let to dry! Works well for me anyways!
