Could someone explain why just because a car is classed as classic means its less likely to be involved in a crash thus making it cheaper. I dont understand.

I think it is more to do with A) using it less  B) taking more care of it.

I thought that but say I bought a Polo worth 1k and a mk2 worth 1k and had them both on the same miles of say 7k a year, its just silly that the mk2 would cost less just because its "classic".

As for looking after it, how the hell does the insurance company know that Im going to look after my car just because its a mk2 golf and not a polo . .

If you do less than 3,000miles per annum, they class that as being 'cherished' i.e, you're not likely to be thrashing it about week in week out, ideally, you would have access to another car for daily driving (spouses/partners/mum.dads etc)

lol as far as i know its based on statistics ect. obviously it isnt foolproof, ie not all young men are idiots @ driving + not all old people drive slowly and carefully, its preferable to them installing gps trackers to your car to 'monitor driving habits' lol

Car insurance is based on millions of factors, so don't judge the quote by the car.
