Went to work this morning...perfect.

7.5 hours later went to start the car, fired up perfect...but then spluttered before stalling. with lots of revs i could get it to start and stay started, but as soon as i kiled the throttle the revs dropped to 1k and started spluttering. after a few more attempts the spluttering had stopped but it still kept dying once it fired up.

Soo i inplugged the temp sensor, started - bit of spluttering to start but it managed to get stable and idled fine. turned it off, plugged temp sensor back in and then it started and ran fine again. Unplugging the temp sensor and pluggin back in obviously reset a fault on the ecu enabling to run proply again - i will check on vagcom tomorow for any codes. Whats happening now as well, only when driving when i dip the clutch the revs drop slightly ..occasionaly alot, but other then that there was no change in how it was driving this morning!

So any ideas? i was thinking maybe idle control as it fired up and revved fine.

dodgy temp sensor?
Wouldn't be fun if it was easy, but does it have to be this much fun?

no dont think so; it was brand new a month and half a go. and its reading spot on - plus it wouldnt cause the revs to drop when you dip the clutch

throttle body clean.

mines doing the same thing, gunna clean mine this week.

when i dip the clutch when the revs are around 2500rpm the revs drop quite fast to around 300rpm and sometimes stalls, other times it jumps back to around 900rpm.... but if i let the revs drop itself when coming to a junction to around 1000rpm then dip the clutch it doesnt happen as much.... it'l drop to around 800 rpm then stay around there.

Cleaning the throttle body will sort this, other that that maybe Vac leak or oil breathers need cleaning. (I'm checking all 3 when i clean the throttle body) - I suggest you do the same mate.

i dont think the throttle body needs cleaning as it was perfect this morning, and this would not cause it too die like it was doing...plus unplugging, then plugging the sensor in (which reset the ecu data) seemed to solve the problem (for now) which to me would indicate sensor problem...

Breather pipes are a good call, last time i checked they were good but i will check them tomorow.

had a look today, throttle body was clean, breathers fine. vagcom showed temp sensor fault, so i swapped it for my old one and will see how it goes. the new temp sensor (if it is that) has only lasted a month!

could have just been the fault saved from when you unplugged it?
