I'm guessing if it doesn't stay in place and keeps going down itself, then it's the regulator.

What happens when you press switch? Any noise of motor working or nothing?

My passenger side rear window has just started doing this. Bloody typical as I have a drivers side rear mechanism and motor in the shed. Like you I will be looking at this at the weekend. Let me know if you see anything on yours.      Cheers      Deano

Hehe..yeah exactly, i've had to fix all my leccy windows..
It's a common problem but you chaps above i think what you'll find is that the lug on the cable has broken free of the plasic fixing in the window clamp.
It can be fixed, i tried and it lasted for a while but broke free again.. in the end i opted for a complete new regulator each time when the other windows failed..

If this is the case I have a spare window clamp and could fit this to my existing wire and glass.  I will let you know when I have had a look.      Cheers      Deano
