No Wax oil is generally put on the underneath of a car to protect it. Copper grease is usually used to prevent threads sticking etc etc
good to know

Had some bad news the guy who was going to fit my Coilovers has died in a motorbike accident, R.I.P he was a sound guy.
I can get them done for £40 front and £40 Rear but i was only originally be paying £35 for them all, So Two questions :-

Is £80 a good price?

Also how had is it to fit the rear shockers, hight adjustment thingiy and the springs ? because i want to cut right down on labour costs i was thinking fitting the rear ones and having them set high then driving to the garage and then paying for the fronts fitted, lowed to the high i want.

Then lowering the rears once i have the new coilovers fitted on the front.

The back ones are pretty easy - much easier than the front. Obviously you'll need a jack, axle stands and socket wrench - worth checking but I think the top of the strut needs a 16mm socket and the bottom bolt needs an 18mm. You might be able to do it without, but a spring compressor comes in very handy to get the old spring out and put the new one in. The new one will have an adjuster on the bottom which, when you can screw in/out using the provided C-spanner to get it at the desired height - really easy to do yourself. I wound mine to the very bottom before fitting to set it at its lowest. Then jack the car up and turn clockwise with the C-spanner to raise it up if needed.

Any questions let me know. Fitting the Jamex was the first thing I had attempted relating to the suspension and the back ones really were pretty straightforward - just the front ones that are a b!tch to get out.

However a decent spring compressor will cost you £20+, and £80 doesn't sound a bad price to me for having the whole lot fitted. Like I say, if you want to adjust them afterwards all you will need is a jack, axle stands (to be safe) and the C-spanner which comes in the box with the coilovers.

think ill do the rear my self at my mates near the garage then drive down and get them to do my fronts and get the hole thing aligned.
Didn't think £80 was to bad but when it gose from £35 [mates rates] to £80 just a bit  lol but think ill  be happy with £40 fronts fitted.

Going to order myn tonight or tomorrow, depending on what time i get back from work, and hopefully order my adjustable drop links as well. Then all i need is the nuts and bolts from VW top mounts from TPS or VW, and copper grease for the threads.

I got my jamex fitted today and was a pain in the arse, just make sure that if you have 18'' wheels get the right spacers, I ended up buy 4 packs as 2 were wrong. But still have to file down the others so they fit nicely. Other then that it's nice. Lowered 60mm. :)
