Only you can decide on the grey, it's a personal decision. Me and the wife pondered over Reflex Silver, Steel Grey and utlimately Carbon Grey. We were going to change our original Reflex Silver order to Steel Grey and went to the showroom to have a look at it on a std Mk6. It was a bit lifeless for me, so we changed to Carbon Grey instead. Haven't seen Carbon Grey in the flesh, but it looks good in pics we've seen.

But ultimately it's not what others think, it's down to you and what you like

Some decent pics here....

I can't decide whether I like it or not: it looks nice, but odd at the same time, at least on a sporty GTI.

Agreed, in some of those pics it looks a bit odd! I went for it anyway though as i've got a mk5 in it at the mo and found it fairly easy to care for and as p3eps says it blends in, I love the mk6 in red and white but they just aren't for me, my dealer tried to convince me to go for carbon grey but it's a bit too dark for me having had black cars in the past, i would have love it in rising blue!
Currently pootling around in our family wagen, a Tiguan SEL 😂

I would have to agree with your dealer on that one. I have had 2 or 3 black cars in the past and vowed never to get one again (swirl marks, impossible to keep clean, etc.). CG is nowhere near as dark as black and doesn't show the dirt nearly so much.

Thanks, but it needs to go into the signature section where your picture is, if you don't mind.
Nice spec.

It all comes down to how you maintain the body work in dark colours.  I would never put a dark colour through a machine wash or use one of the many had washes that are about. Washing the car yourself the proper way will stop swirl marks.  However I understand some don't have the time of the facilities do it themselves. I had a black A3 and after three years there was not a mark on it. My current car is silver but I find it very boring to look at after a while. So have a black pearl golf on order. I know it will take more cleaning than the silver car but will look very good.

No offence, mate, but actually I do mind  That is why I have chosen to have a simple picture with a couple of highlights. If others want to include every boring detail of their car's spec in their signature, then I have no problem with that, but I don't really want to follow
