What Fuel to use - Super Unleaded or Standard - does it matter?

Getting lousy fuel consumption.
Using high octane petrol. 75 miles of town driving so far with a full fat diet of traffic jams.
Trip computer registering average 13.9 mpg! Not happy.

Don't worry. The fuel consumption gets a bit better as everything gets bedded in. Mine can only manage 270miles on a full tank to start with. Change my engine oil at 2000miles and now my car can manage 360miles with 4000miles on the odo!
Shell v-power only for my beloved GTI!

Yes, will do an oil change at 2000 miles and start using Shell V Power or equivalent BP. Been using Total as the petrol station is conveniently located.

Defo goes better on 99 but I also notice getting more miles per tank on 99 so justified?

Im on 10k and can verify those figures and miles per gallon of the 99 stuff

My mrs loved the Ed30 she didnt want to part with that!! Now she loves The GTD and all the toys, and she dosent drive it neather even the ACC she likes to ajust that to her liking!!

Your GTI should settle down a bit after about 2k miles hope it gets better? Around london the GTI is poor for MPG?   ps there's only a second in it?
