Front drainage holes
« on: 27 March 2010, 12:56 »
Anyone got any idea where/how they run.

My driver side footwell is wet again, so the new grommit didn't solve the issue it seems, unless it was water already in the car and it splashed down whilst driving?!

Patiently waiting for more rain.

My other though was it's coming from the door. I'll have to whip the door card off at somepoint and have a look. Although it was wet under the pedals when I stripped it out.

Thanks for your help

Edit: it's not wet by the door card but maye it's running under the carpet and collecting on the middle

This is what happened on the Leon me and Dave pulled apart the other day

The sealant had gone at the bottom of the metal regulator panel so instead of the water being channelled out of the door drainage holes it would seep in, sit on the sill and then soak into the carpet

Whip off the door card and watch for water coming through the bottom

I also think its the source of my leak although it hasn't gotten any worse  :undecided:

Won't be taking it apart today but I may remove the door car next week and pour water on the door and go from there.

I suppose it could have been the release
grommit AND the door :s

Rhys - how wet was the leon carpet? Where are the drainage holes on the door?

at the very bottom of the door

open the door and run water down the outside and you'll see how the water drains out

The carpet had an inch of standing water in it, front to back! - it looks like it was a long term problem over a number of years

Took a week to dry out the soundproofing!!

it was the rear door where it was leaking so not sure if the front is different  :undecided:

basically the water run down the window, into the door and out of two holes front and back at the bottom of the door

Therein, if its not draining out of the door it could be finding its way in..........

Well both drainage hole under the wing are dripping so they must be clear so it can only be the bonnet release grommit or the door
