Volkswagen Drag Racing Club, 2010 Rookie Drive
« on: 25 March 2010, 22:17 »
This is a message for the all people that i've seen nailing it up the strip last year and already some eager ones this year

THE coolest VW club in the UK (and possibly the world) is offering membership for as little as £24
or
Not ready to race but dig VWs and Drag Racing? A fiver gets you membership which in turn offers access to drivers, cool as flip cars, TONS of technical advice and access to our club forum

You've seen us at Bug Jam, Golf+ and PVW, now come and join us. Putting yer hand down the back of the settee will probably produce all the sheckles you need to join. 2010 is already looking like one of the most badass, balls out, fastest and craziest years yet.

For the fast street boys and girls, please tell me why you aren't racing on a properly prepped track - it's miles better than bench racing and RWYB.

For the Daily driven hot hatches who think there slow and wont win your wrong!, bracket racing is designed to give the best racers a chance to win, not who has the biggest budget, its who knows there car best, who was good reactions, and who wants it most

I, like many of the VWDRC started by doing RWYB and then getting hooked and wanting more and better track time. There are lots of you out there with some tasty motors, many of you seem to like a blat up the track on the odd RWYB day.

It's not expensive - helmet and suit, club membership, race licience and gloves (Mechanics (trade name) gloves are only £10 a pair if you know where to shop).

For the race entry money you get 2 car passes and 4 tickets per meeting. Check out Bug Jam costs or Big Bang costs and compare that to MSA race fees and tickets.
and don't forget no more sleeping in the mud, stay dry in the pits and enjoy the benifits of electric hook up

You only need a pucka cage at 12.99, or 14.99 if your Rear engined (aircooled etc)

You don't need to fit fire suppression systems or carry extinguishers.

You don't need to fit battery boxes.

You don't have to cut a kill switch into the body if you are still running a standard ignition key type set up.

You don't need 4/5/6 point harnesses - stock 3 point will do. (I think the scrutineers don't like hip breakers [lap belts])

You don't have to have headrest seats

You don't need to run lexan screens (tho laminated front glass is mandatory).

[That's all the usual excuses for not racing covered]

You get to run at prepped tracks for seven meetings, and also you might get invites to a few more.

You can play the "balls out go as fast as I can" game, or the "tactics" of bracket racing.

It doesn't matter if your car runs 17's or 11's we want you, (LAST YEARS SPORTSMAN CHAMPION WAS A SQUAREBACK THAT RAN 24 SECONDS)

Class Breakdown!!

VW Pro (-12.99) hard fought class with a mix of cars and dragsters (last year won by a Golf AGAIN)

VW Sportman class (13.00+) is a competitive class with allsorts of race cars (last year won buy a 1.6 auto Type 3)

The guys and girls are all a good bunch, who just want to race fast VWs.

What's stopping you? I know the VWDRC would love to see you doing some proper racing.

Membership can be downloaded from www.vwdrc.com or shoot me a PM if you want one emailed to you direct or if you have any questions!

we've already secured a few watercooled racers but we want more, heres a taster to some members you know and some newbies for 2010 and some oldies

James Hodson VWPRO champion 2010

Jacob Bailey R32 Jetta

Paul Jordan 20vT

Scooby powered Bug

2.2 BUS

4 ltr Supercharged V8 in a fastback

1.4 polo vs 1.8 Ghia

1.9TDI

you name it in the VAG stable you can run it!! or its probably been dragged already

I value my drivetrain and I prefer corners.

Sorry.

Regards to Mark Ger-man and Huggy.  What's Mark running that's 2.2? When's Buzzo going to make it back?  You know he's just got an LSD box built for his current camper?
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

Holiday cottages on the Isle of Wight for 2-10 people? PM me.
