Problem!!! Please help!!
« on: 25 March 2010, 08:41 »
Rite picked the car up yesterday, nd all was fine, was bought from a small garage but no warrenty given :(. My problem is, I came out of street this morning, went slowly over a speed bump and "POINNNNG" at first I was like WTF!! Now every time I turn the wheel a couple of turns the noise keeps happening so worried that is something major. Came into work this morning and a mate who has a rough idea about cars had a look at it and he thinks the top suspention mount could have seazed :( what do u guys think and will it be expensive? Please help :(

As above sounds like a cracked spring

New spring is about £30 from GSF / Euro Car Parts and fitting is approx 30-45 minutes per side so would depend on local garage rates

Ideally you should replace in pairs as chances are the other spring is in the same condition

or you could upgrade and fit some lowering springs

Is the car lowered? If not I have some (used) standard gti springs which you can have

my spring snapped, only half inch off the top, i couldnt see it, but the mechanic quickly diagnosed it and £50 later, was changed over.
