I was thinking of light smoke at the front and limo or dark smoke at the back any thoughts? I know fronts are illegal, however what is the likelyhood of police making you remove them or fining you?

Way too chavy for a quality classic like a Mk2.

Suippose so... just been having a look online and I reckon the light smoke all round at the very darkest. They dont look chavvy with slightly darkened windows, however black or near black looks, to be frank, bloody awful!!!

I've got a light tint all round (previous owner not me) and I like it, it's not something I would choose myself but it's also not something I can be arsed to get rid of.
Has never drawn attention from the police for the several years the car has been in my family either.

Yes they do.
The reason any type of tint is dangerous on the windows in front of the B-pillar is because it increases reflectiveness of the glass. This means you're less likely to spot pesky road users like pedestrians and cyclists. This is why it's unsafe illegal and would mark you out as a complete w*nker of the highest order

OEM green or blue tint looks nice on the original glass (depending on your car colour)!
