ignition coil

hello guys been having problems with slug, had a look round the coil and noticed a blue wire with a spade on the end just hanging around, any ideas where it goes or wot its for?? thinking maybe it joins onto the coil some ewhere?

Green wire, think it is the neg switch for the coil from the ign module :-\.
What is the problem with the slug?.

when u slow down or stop it stalls, i had a look at me mates dub all be it a 1.8 carb(mines 1.6)and his green wire was connected so i have attached mine, so far so good no more stalling, b4 i had to have choke on untill it was at norm temp now as soon as it gets past the white i can turn it off. i think i have cured the problem and can now say im enjoying driving my little slug  >:D

as mentioned above the problem of stalling is back, any ideas anyone??
plz help its embarrasing stalling and being over taken by pugs!!!

Make sure the hot air pick up pipe from the exhaust to the air filter is OK. Start the engine and check the flap in the air filter housing moves across to direct warm air into the air filter housing.

hot air pipe has been replaced, sorry abt my thickness but wot flap are u on abt?? do i have to take off the air filter housing to check??

There is a disc/mushroom shaped thing with a vacuum pipe connected to it on the housing where the hot air and cold air pipes join onto the air filter housing. This is a vacuum operated device that when the air temp is cold, a temperature sensitive valve directs vacuum to this "actuator" which pulls on a flap, closing the route for cold air and allowing only the hot air in to stop the carb from "icing".
If you link the two vacuum pipes from the temp sensitive switch together with the engine running, the flap should move to close off the cold side of the air inlet to the filter.
Hope this makes sense, been a long day :rolleyes:.

You want to ensure also that the flap is actually working when its supposed to.

Pull the pipe from the temperature valve and suck on it. You should hear the flap inside the box move if all is well.

Its not unknown for the diaphragm inside to split.

Does this model have the hedgehog preheater in the inlet manifold?
