Miltek noise...
« on: 18 March 2010, 20:13 »
Hi im pretty new to this site as iv just bought a MK5 GTI. Really want to buy a miltek exhaust system for it but wanted to know from you guys who have fitted one to what the noise levels are like?? i know youtube has videos of them but its never as good as asking the poeple who actually have them fitted. my last car was a clio cup with a sports system on and it was so loud it was a no go for long journys with people in the back. Is it just nice, to loud or the same. im sure with it being miltek, and vw being good with the old sound proofing it would be great but would like to know cheers.

I've been in plenty of Milltek equipped cars and mine has a full Milltek turbo-back resonated system. Inside the car you can hear it when pressing on, but at motorway speeds and around town it is as quiet as the stock system. The non-resonated system is slightly louder, but not overtly so. A few have said that the non-res system is a little boomy at around 3-3.5k rpm on the motorway.

Got a non res cat back Milltek on mine & it's fine. I think the resonated one would be too quiet for me & i'm no spring chicken.

Hey Gene

Whats the non-res noise like cruising on the motorway? is it boomy or intrusive?

Will be looking to have one fitted soon myself

So the 'resonated' system is quieter than the 'non-resonated'? That seems totally backwards to me, as the term derives from 're-sound'.

Hi, I have a full resonated turbo back milltek system for sale, has covered less than 1000 miles but I am trading my gti in tomorrow so it's been removed from the car. I will also be happy to supply a full reciept (I work at a milltek dealer) so you will also have a full milltek guarantee.

I'm on 07917 166707 if you are interested.

You need the resonated version! I ran with the non-res for 8 months and at m-way cruising speeds it is boomy and can be very noisey inside the car. The resonated system is a bit too quiet though, but still louder than OEM on full throttle.
