hi, my name's Dan, and i've been toying with the idea of buying a mk1 or 2 (probably 2) gti for a while now, and fixing it up myself. i've signed up to basically get an idea of how difficult/expensive that would actually be. i've basically never done anything to a car other than change tyres and jump starting, but have always wanted to know about cars and be able to fix them, so thought this could be a great car to learn with. am i wrong in thinking that?
also are there any major things to look out for when buying an old golf? my mate said the head gaskets can be dodgy on some of them?
