Neil, what Bluetooth have you got?
With the Fiscon if you have 2 numbers in your phone i.e. Joe has 12345 for home and 45678 for mobile, the fiscon will download 2 contacts for Joe.

The only way i can get the Vw phone kit to show both numbers is to copy them to sim as stig home and stig mobile as 2 separate contacts
Does the Fiscon copy and just use sim contacts, or connect to the phone and copy all the contacts phone mem and sim card ? and is your phone still active when connected,
Because the vw kit once your phone is connected it is disabled

It downloads the contacts from the phone not the SIM.
I think it does this every time but you don't notice it unless you have added a new contact since the last time it was paired with the Fiscon. So only if you have added a new contact do you see "downloading phonebook"

Once the phone is connected (literally seconds) you can still use the phone as normal. A couple of times I've been caught out with this and while parked phoned a number on my phone and then couldn't understand while the ringing tone was coming through the loudspeakers, DOH

Its probably just as well the phone can still be used as the Fiscon doesn't send the DTMF tones. So you can still send them via the phone.

I think (but it is complicated since I only still am reading "RTFM" 183 pages RNS and 233 pages HTC phone)

the RNS510 and VW premiumkit (my kit) takes it straight from the SIM AND PHONE MEMORY....
after that.... the RNS510 disables the phone by putting it into a sleeping mode to save battery...normally that does not matter since ALL the adresses have been synced in the RNS510

If I am right you should forget about SIM and use outlook on your PC make all the adresses....sync it with the sync prog with your phone...(as I did a minute ago) ....and sync it with your car....(as I will do the 2nd of April).....and voila you have got the "Bourne Identity" mobile-scene..

NOW DO NOT TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOBODY OUT THERE TO CONFIRM THIS....

I think i will have to have a play with my phone and contacts to see if that works Eric, Thanx

The fiscon sounds like a lot simpler system to me and one that i am more use too (normal bluetooth kits but with on screen displays)
