Product advice needed please

I want to try and tackle the swirls that are all over the car, the only thing is I will doing it all by hand but as I have the time and I'm wiling to make the effort I want to give it a go. The only thing I'm stuck on is which product would be ideal for the job in hand, I've been looking at products like Swirl - X, Sonus SFX1 Restore, Menz 203S and Poorboy's Super Swirl Remover SSR2.5 ? I'm just not sure and I'm unsure what would be the best form of application, I would be gratefull for any advice or suggestions and as said the car has what I would call medium swirls and some fine scratches. either find someone like stink and borrow his machine polisher or be prepared for arms like popeye

achieving correction without a machine polisher is nigh on impossible.. imo of course

you do realise this will take you quite along time to get it perfect by hand!!

you'll need a firmish applicator pad like the tri-coloured german applicator or equivelant, some medium grade compound and some finishing compound, rubbing in small tight circlular motions overlapping where you've been, using light to medium pressure on the pads and keep it consistent or you'll end up with patches etc, your arm will kill after one pannel trust me.

when you've got the desired finish go over the whole car with a good glaze to give it a good finish then seal/wax as normal.

i am in the same situation, dont have a polisher & dont feel confident using 1, even tho ive heard its hard to go wrong with a Dual Action. Was going to try it by hand aswell but after reading this i'm not so sure lol

If i'm not using a DA then what are the best steps for me to use, would i just skip the polish & go to the glazing & waxing & would i still need to clay or as i am not using a DA would claying be a waste of time. very confused.com

if you dont polish the car before glazing and waxing you risk the wax caking and bonding onto the unprept surface which is a serious pig to remove,

claying would be a benefit if your not polishing with a DA, it will remove any bonded contaminants from the paint which will help big time, you could get some dodo limeprime which has abrassive in it which will help polish the paint but wont entirely remove scratches and swirls if done by hand.

if your not looking to get a perfect swirl and scratch free finish then:
wash the car
clay thoroughly
wash again
limeprime
glaze
seal
wax

or save up and pay a pro like me or guy to do it for you

                this should really help loads. Just got my new car yesterday & the paint work already looks immaculate so no swirl marks or scratches that i can see, it is silver though & is quite hard to see any

also with the claying i have watched a few youtube videos lol, just to see how its done, on the videos tho you only see them doing the panels with clay. What about bumpers etc are they ok to clay aswell & is this more difficult to do than the panels themselves ( can already feels this detailing bug taking over my life  )

PS i will follow the steps you have given me as you obviously know your stuff, i will need to buy the products soon. Can you recommend a good glaze for me & also should i get the lime prime or get the lime prime lite. As im not using a DA what pads do i need?? would it just be a finishing pad as again i dont want to try polishing by hand & leave it patchy like you said previously on this post

Just out of curiosity how much do you guys charge for this type of service? go on humour me

I appreciate the level of task I am attempting and I'm aware that full correction is unlikely but I'm willing to try and the reason I'll try the "by hand" approach is that I could buy a DA or rotary but given the time it could take me to practice on a scrap panel and get to the point where I would feel happy with my technique and confident enough to work on my own car could be several months and the end of summer (if we get one  ) so for now it will hand application only and one panel at a time.

So can anyone recommend a product that would be up to the job and thanks for the suggestion of applicator

sch01:yes clay the bumpers aswell and if your brave enough do your alloys aswell and yes detailing is very addictive and will take over your life if not carefull
i should hope i know what im doing as ive been doing this on a pro level for 15yrs love it more now than when i was doing my training back then.

pads wise you can get hand polishing pads of various grades and sizes from elite carcare or waxamomo on here.
glaze id suggest dodo limeprime lite as its got no abrassive in it or chemical guys ez creme glaze available from the stated above stockists.
or matt at i4detailing.co.uk stocks a very very good glaze made by britemax its called blackmax pad glaze and is awesome stuff, i have a bottle myself and wouldnt be without it tbh.

prices for full correction/protection will start around the £250/350mk and go upto £1000 and more in some cases, all depends on condition of the car to start with,how big it is,what you want done and products used etc, sounds alot but this job can take from 2/3 days upwards to acheive the desired results.
