time to swap with my no claims

ok so iv currently got a mk4 1.4 and love it, but iv not got a years no claims and im looking to upgrade, im thinking of going for a 1.6 as its stil a reasonable price on insurance but do you know if theres any way to get more power from the engine, will much be gained from a remap on (what is stil a fairly small engine) or are there any other ways,

Personally mate the jump from the 1.4 to the 1.6 isn't worth bothering with.  You should wait another year or two and jump on a 1.8T of 130/150 diesel instead.

A re-map on a 1.6 won't even get you 10bhp.

go for the 1.8t mate im 17 and have a 1.8 t. try e-car insurance. i have had a non fault accident aswell and they were so helpful!! would reccomend to anyone!

yeh there seems to be a massive 1000 difference between a 1.6 and a 1.8t on insurance... even the 1.8 gti is the same...

Have you looked at insurance on the diesels, 115, 130 and 150?

Seriously, how much are you paying, and is the insurance in YOUR name?

if i go to the 1.6 it goes upto 1200 a year which as im a student and am only woking part time i can afford, the 1.8 is double that...

the deisel 110  is insurance group 10 which is around the same price as the 1.8... oh how i hate being this young !

The 110 diesel is sh!te anyway mate, you only want the 130/150 really.  I'd stick with the 1.4 mate, the 1.6 just doesn't seem like a worthwhile upgrade.

1.8T is group 14, you think it'd cost a fair bit more than a 110.
