its taken alot of time to do this, sanding it all down, smoothing off the welds, then 5 hours of machine polishing and still needs the final stage doing. What you all think

i was thinking off powder coating but wasnt sure on what colour would look right as i have carbon engine cover. was going to go white inlet but then thought a nice mirror finish would look good up against the carbon cover.

Looks top mate, that is alot of work you put into that to get it looking like that.
I've done a exhaust manifold on my Mazda but that was piss easy, this part is alot more work.

i might attempt to polish the spare rocker cover i have, but then i may have to sand down all the bits that stick up otherwise it'll chew the polishing brushing up.

What tools did you use to bring up that nice shine?

started off using my electric sander to get the surface to a flat finish and to sand the welds flat, combination of 40 grit and 120 grit sanding pads. then out with the 800 and then 1200 wet & dry.

Then i have a machine polishing kit, First polishing wheel is course and give it a coating of dialux course step 1 soap. attach the wheel to a 4000rpm drill and blitz the crap out of it to smooth it even further and start giving a shine.

Then onto the less course wheel to help get rid of some of the scratches using a stage 2 dialux soap, this starts bringing the mirror finish through.

still got the last step to do which using a buffing wheel and stage 3 dialux soap that eliminates near enough all scratches and put the mirror finish on.

it really does take alot of work but the end results are worth it knowing that ive done it myself.
