Thats looking good  remind me what was your plan? I've been away too long!

HA!

That's not my car.  That's one of the crossflow example pics I pulled up when doing initial crossflow research.

I'm in the middle of converting the 8V crossflow goodness to Megasquirt, hoping to liberate some more 8V donkeys.

I need to put a cage in, along with the buckets and harnesses I have festering on the shelf, but I have goons who keep whispering 'turbo it' in my ear.

One of them even called up this evening, feverishly muttering about ball bearing turbos and manifolds to suit having been found 'just lying around'.

Trouble : brewing

Right catching up now! Well if thats what I think it is the weight of that block should be light as Fook!
As for turbo options you might need to spend some time looking at some Garrett's the ceramic bearings types do fair much better than the Ko4 options. I've gone through two Ko4's and one K03 in my time and not impressed, but I did drive them hard back in the day.
My daily Caliber has a Garrett and its so much more smooth power delivery on the 160PD block compared to simular Sharan and Golf's with Ko4's and diesels aren't the best power curves, just great torque steer LOL!

lol these threads make me chuckle!

112Fly HP (80odd at the wheels) and 138 Fly HP  (100 odd at the wheels) Well quick init bruv - Well Lax Flower mag speak!

my 8v is fun but not quick, the 16v that my mate has is a bit more sprited but again not quick cars but just fantastic fun!

Jump in a motor that can hit 60 in around 5 secs then jump in a 8v or 16v Golf you will then feel how slow they are and really these age old threads are pointless!

Rather than waste cash modding a car to go faster, just buy a faster car in the first place - I wasted thousands over the years, if I had of just been wise I could have a Audi R8 on my drive insted!

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

I think you'd waste many, many more thousands on 'fast' cars vs a cheeky Golf2 8 or 16v and not have as much fun, which is what the Golf2 is about.

Not willy-waving.

Plus I'd rather be driving at 80% of the car's capability for 80% of the time, rather than at 20% for 80% of the time.  That's not nearly enough fun.

Plus I've met tosspots with 5 second 0-60 cars on track.  They're a pain in the ass as you spend your life being held up in corners only to have them open the gap up on the straights when they can wave their power about without needing much skill.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

+1 as i keep saying the Golf is a great fun motor and you can keep it on the boil a much higher % of the time and be far more involved in the drive.
the Golf takes alot more "driving" to keep up than my point and squirt Turboed motor.
What I was trying to get at is these threads when you are talking a difference of 26 hp between the 8v and 16v cars are a waste, its a negligable difference IMO
