« on: 12 March 2010, 14:15 »
My car is a 06 with only 14k on clock . Don't drive car to hard
but am thinking of getting it chipped bluefin stage 1 , just to sharpen
it up . Trouble is what damage can a chip do to the engine
gearbox etc .. Ps car is a DSG

Its PERFECTLY safe to get you car remapped, most people on here have theirs done.

Yes it does put more strain on the engine but WAY withtin its tolerence.

A simple remap will not stress a K03 GTI. Just look at mine for reference and it is still running perfect

Just worried about clutch wear , it's a dsg .
Had a escort rs turbo years ago and had that chipped
and had problem after problem with it . I know things
have come along way . Should I change the dv if I get it bluefined

Mine is a DSG too.

A remap on a K03 will produce between 280 and 300lbft. I'm running 415lbft on the same spec DSG gearbox.

The DSG box is much stronger than people think. If you had a manual, you would need an upgrade clutch at some point, wheras with DSG it will be happy to continue on the stock clutchpack.

If you do remap an uprated DV would be a good idea. the revision D OEM DV is a piston type DV rather than the original diaphragm type you will have now.
