Ok, after 9 months of looking for a cheapie i have found one.
£160
Now of course it has its problems, car from weymouth, so the sea air has attacked every panel. and the sills are in a bad way.
So far i've lowered the rear end, and have front struts off to use my compressors on when i remember where i left them.
Its a 1.8 petrol, and it has a hole in the metal waterpipe, and completely screwed gear selection
Anyway i've been busy with the measuring etc to remove the pillars and fit doors off a 3 door hatch.
few issues but should be able to get round them.
the Roof line is spot on, no problems there.
however the inner subassembly? is different due to the inner arches being different.
i've got to remove the outer sills and see what support is needed for the pillar.
main difficulty atm is finding a a nice level hard standing so can support the shell completely level.
I'm going to fit the new pillar before i remove the existing pillar so hopefully it wont go banana shaped. as there will be some strength lost from removing the sills. need to get the roof lining down to see whether there is a brace running across where the new pillar will be.
Quick couple of questions, hopefully someone whose done a vento coupe can answer.
Any problems with the DLVA as this will be efectively a modified monocoque?
also is the front scuttle stronger on the 3 doors to support the extra weight of the longer door?
Will update with some pics in due course, just a lot of chalk lines and measureing atm.
