I'm liking the progress, just think you've only done one wheel so far...

I'll know how you feel soon, i got the pepper pots to do too!

I was going to say you better solder the wires and wrap them, good job :afro:

Cheers for the comments guys!

I wasn't going to do anything on the wheel today but then my polishing mops and polish arrived and I couldn't resist! I sanded down the entire wheel with 240 grit paper in prep for the etch primer.

I then chose a small section of the lip and sanded it down with 400, then 800 then 1200 grit paper. Next I attacked it with all 3 polishing mops and different polishes and it was finished off with some autosol. It's only a small section but I wanted to make sure it was going to look ok before doing the whole wheel:

(It's about a 2" section to the right of the spoke in the middle of the pic)

I know the second pic is not in focus :embarassed:

But i'm impressed with the result, as I only used the big mops I didn't get right into the edge of the lip but it was only to test it really. Thoughts?

I'm beginning to wonder if I should just forget about the polished lip and just spray the whole wheel one colour, also how the hell do you guys suggest I tape up the lip? It's going to take me hours to make sure it's masked up properly!

Cheers guys, well I just spent ages masking up the lip. I decided that it is better to under mask the lip (and rub and paint back down as required) than over mask it and have to redo it all because I missed a bit of paint.

So it's now been primered with etch primer which i'll leave to dry properly until tomorrow evening and i'll rub it down and give it a coat of normal primer

And a lot more costly and not as satisfying

So a great day at the RR day provided me with some good results - 124.4bhp and a tad off 140ft/lb torque! Not bad for a standard 8v bar the exhaust and air filter! A nice smooth power curve as well:

And a little video of it doing it's thing:
