Alarm flashing light
« on: 10 March 2010, 19:48 »
Not really sure where to post this, so sorry if its in the wrong section.....

You know the small RED flashing bulb on your dash that tells you when the alarm is armed yeah? Well, can I change the flashing light by just cutting the wires and adding a new flashing light in its place? Basically, I want to change the colour from RED to GREEN, but don't want to f*ck up my alarm!!

Cheers

That "flashing light" doesn't do anything, except just flashing...

You alarm will work, even if you cut the wire and remove the bulb.

If you want to change it, simply change the bulb and rewire.

hang on tho as if its a propper alarm they usually have a much lower voltage led, like clifford for example is something like 2v so u need to check that, it might blow, so it could be a game of trial and error or you may just be lucky on the first go

but all you need to do is as said, cut tha wires dude

Cheers for the input chaps, the LED flashing bulb that I'm going to replace the red one with has a positive & negative wire attached to it,basically its just a dummy flashing LED but green not red, the alarm is the standard fitted to golfs, so I'll give it ago and let you know!!
