Few things to do on mk2
« on: 10 March 2010, 16:54 »
Noticed that since the re-spray my rear windscreen washer squirts water out of the offside rear wheel arch when the button is pressed yet I cant find the tube for the life of me.

Anybody know the route the pipe takes from the washer bottle?

Also the spring for the bonnet catch is missing so I am spending ages poking a screwdriver through the grill whilst pushing the bonnet closed. Does anybody know if these springs are still available? Or where to get them?

I had the same problem mate. Ended up getting one off someone breaking a car. If you take the badge off your grill, you can see the latch and move it with your figner. It's a small vertical rectangle to the left of the badge that you push towards the passenger side while you're holding the bonnet down

Yeah man its a right pain in the bum. I tied some thick string through one of the holes on the latch as a temp fix but it didnt last long lol.

Noticed my chrome bonnet lifters have vanished aswell, they apparently broke when the guy took em off.... yeah likely, they unbolt very easily.

Also if anybody knows anywhere to get a decent set of vac hoses as I am still fighting the cold idle problem. Could vac hoses play a part in this?

My lower bonnet catch broke its spring last year. Sourced a whole new catch - brand spanker - off e-bay but arrived with no spring!!! - so spoke to my friendly garage and they ferreted around in their box of bits and found one for me. You can buy a whole box of springs from Halfords etc. but they are all too weak. I had to butcher the one donated by my garage but works OK if just a little tight - a bit like Arkwrights till!!

I replaced all my vac hoses last year - flexible from GSF but the white(?) nylon ones are OE only I think but amazingly my local VW parts department had some in stock otherwise I would have had to order 5 metres.

Sorry can't help with the washer feed.

Some ideas anyway.

This happened to mine once and there was a connection in the pipe behind the offside rear light cluster which had come apart .
