Good Price

Hi All,

Ive just joined and looking for a new car, I have been driving a vx corsa for the past 7 years an im trying to find a compromise between the CTR, ST, VXR and GTi.

I saw a GTI at my local car supermarket yesterday its
56 plate, basic model with 18's monzaII, not even an arm rest :( 44k miles Full VW history, but this isn't stamped, just show in receipts, but I couldn't find an MOT cert.

£12,790

1 warranty replacement which was a rattle in the vents and the driver side door.

Just a few concerns, I found some cut RCA leads in the boots, which lead me to believe its probably been modified before, or at least the ICE anyway, also a litre of Shell Helix oil in the boot compartment, would this just mean a careful owner or engine using oil?

Another thing is i put the Reg LJ56XTC in 2 different databases for basic car checks 1 comes up with 3 dr and the other 5dr.

Finally on the receipts from the VX dealer doing the services, its listed as a GTi 2.0 DSG, but it's a manual, is there something fishy going on?

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

I think a few dealers are now using Shell Helix for longlife oil. Certainly when I had my car recently serviced, they gave a free 1l bottle of Shell Helix oil.

Take the reg no and have a chat with a friendly VW dealer to have a look on their system.

Mine is an 06 and I paid £11,500. Mileage was 28k at the time.

I know demand is similar, but that sounds a bit fishy to me...

Sounds dodgy, why get it serviced and not get the book stamped?  Given the receipts don't even tie up to the car its another no no

GTI's can go through oil at a rate of about 1l every 3 to 4 months in my case - always got a bottle of oil in the boot so I wouldn't worry on that score.

Sounds like a lot of money for the car too.  I'm sure you can get a better deal from piston heads or the like.

As suggested though, take the vin to a dealers and find out from them whats been done / if its legit.  With the reg no and the vin / V5 reference you can find out MOT info online.
