Hi all,

Just got bit of a real headache of a problem which i cant get to the bottom of. My windscreen wipers have stopped working I am not sure why this has happened, i have checked all the fuses there all working fine. I then went to garage to do a diagnosis check, and everything there is also working fine, in terms of the stalk and fuses. So i just assume it looks like it maybe electric problem.

I am thinking it might be something related towards my hids that i have fitted in, the hids i put in i dont think are the canbus ones which are required. This is possibly whats caused this and if so how can this problem be resolved? WOuld vagcom get to the bottom of this and resolve it, electrics side is something i dont have much knowledge of.

Any ideas what could be the issue, i cant hear any sounds or anything when testing them and its just becoming a pain especially as i am motorway driver :(

Any advice i would be greatful for.

Cheers

Check your bonnet is closed properly / that the bonnet switch is OK.  If the bonnet is open (or it thinks it is) the wipers are disabled.  Common problem.

Yeah mate tested the bonnet switch in the diagnostics test, that it detects is off. So not sure if its that the problem.

I got a feeling its something to do with my hids, as they were not the canbus ones.

Hi Mate,

I have the same problem currently(Front wipers don't work at all!) and have just found out the issue after taking it to VW and now being £80 lighter ! I got told it's the Net control unit needs replaced and the part itself cost £200 and its needs re-programming...etc so all in it's £370 i got quoted at a main VW stealer! I'm still currently trying to get it repaired for cheaper but, no luck as of yet ! Coinsidently i fitted a HID kit aswell shortly before they broke, could be the cause :undecided:?! Let me know how you get on mate... Good luck!

Only found out after that stupid golfs have to be akward and you have to get canbus hids. Although i put some in my 03 audi and there working a treat.

Madmaxgti ~ Wow that seems like a pain, i feel my is going the same way as its just becoming a bit of a joke. I was told to take out the hids and take the battery out over night see if that works, thats next step but i wont get chance to do that till friday now which is a pain. I have never come across the net control, what is that exactly?
