140 mph clocks
« on: 08 March 2010, 19:51 »
Not long bought a 16v, just realised it has 140 clocks. Aren't they meant to have 160 clocks? Its a 1995. Also my mfa doesn't work. Are they easy to fix? Where should i start?

None working MFA will more than likely be either the stalk or the clocks. However sounds like you need some 160mph clocks though Mate.

I'm wondering if your clocks have been replaced with non GTI ones (non GTI's didn't have MFA so therefore wouldn't work!)

lol its defo a 16v engine, the big dohc letters on the top give that away. When u push the stalk you can see the clock cursor move between the different settings mph/mpg/temp etc and you get the 1st number faint sometimes. I think they could be 8v clocks. So know one else has a 16v with 140 clocks then? Mayb i should find new clocks then

I would defo replace the clocks for the proper ones but would also be wandering about the accuracy of the mileage. Could try checking against the records held on the VOSA mot history site etc.

When you replace the clocks make sure you get 16v ones, and not VR6 ones. As they are identical but the rev gauge wont work on VR6 ones as its a 6 cylinder rather than 4 on the 16v.
