worth while getting done at what ever the cost!!!!, look what happend to my mk4 20v gti when the tensioner failed!!! ouch, cost me a packet and that was diy, as toph has said, mk4's are a right @rse, as you have to remove the laft hand engine mount and its bolted onto the head and the block!!, i replaced my water pump when i did mine as i had been told they are kn@ckered at 80k, i got a new one, and when i removed the old one it had hairline cracks in the fins!!, i dont understand why local garages didnt have access to tools?? all you need is some m5 thread bar (55mm long) and some washers and a nut to remove the tension fromt the tensioner, oh and a pin to hold the spring loaded rod down. nice and easy not!! lol

if you havent any idea when the cambelt and tensioner were changed on your car get it done soon!! cause you never know!!

Gaz ;D

Just been to pick up the car from the VW dealer.  In the end they only charged me for the water pump and no the labour!!!
