Had mine done yesterday, obviously mk1 but mine was ?112 all in but not from a stealership. Cambelt was a tenner and the tensioner was ?25. Good luck with it glad you are doing the tensioner as well though, save problems later.

The garage has just rung back and they've found a leak on the water pump - surprise surprise!!! I thought that this might happen ... so I've got little choice really so now the total bill is over ?324 !!

wtf ?! how much are they charging you for a new pump ? refuse to pay any extra labour... its a 2 minute job once they've got access to the timing belt. robbing b*stards.

Unfortuneatly I had to go to the stealership for the cambelt and tensioner as my local garages just didnt have the kit. For everything else there is a local VW specialist.
I does p*ss me off that they take advantage of you ... I've had to go there before so they could have given me some discount on the labour.!!

Aye veedub, I had mine in the garage yesterday and I know them so they asked me if I'd go to the stealership to get the bits for them, total of ?35 and a few pence, so tensioner was ?25 and timing belt was just over ?10 and I deffo know they were main dealer so can't complain about the price really. Dont forget mines a mk1 8 valve belt so I guess 16v isn't the same.
