Waiting Time
« on: 07 March 2010, 20:29 »
Does any one have any idea has to how long I could be waiting for a golf gti if I were to order one this week?
I dont mind the wait because I kind of like the novelty of having to wait for a brand new car being built and me being the first one to drive it.

Any advise would be appreciated

You could goto a dealer and see if there is anything around the country that comes close to your spec and buy one that way. Or as the prev poster said, wait anything upto 6 months for your own spec/build.

GTI mk6, 3dr Manual (Yes Manual! If I wanted a Taxi I'd hail one, not spend £1500 on one), Candy White, Full Leather, Xenons, ACC, 18", RCD510 + Dynaudio, DAB Radio, Winter Pack, Luxury Pack, Fiscon Bluetooth Plus, Golf R LED's.

Probably an easier question to answer is "How long is a piece of string?"
But seriously, have a look at the "orders" threads, plenty of info in there matey.

Lots of cancelled orders out there. Quite a few will still be able to be tailered to whatever spec you want.

6-9 month christ that is long. I would have thought the waiting time may have come down a bit.

Like some of you guys said, I guess i could trawl the country to see if any dealer has anything close to the spec I would like.

Start hunting ASAP.
We all did.
It could be both fun and frustrating.
All the best!

I didn't mind waiting for mine, it was only 3 months and I still like the thought my car was built especially for me, makes it more personal.
I also did the Wolfsburg tour while waiting during production week, don't know if I saw my car being built but it was about the right time.

I ordered mine on 16 December 2009, Build Week (BW) 51. A year has 53 BWs. VW work on BWs. It will be at the dealership this week, BW9.
However, this car was originally ordered by another customer in June 2009.
He got fedup waiting and cancelled the order in early December 2009 which I then took up.
It was a stroke of luck.
My car was originally supposed to be built 2nd week January 2010, BW2.
However, it was delayed to BW9 and then brought forward to BW8. It was shipped in BW9. We are soon to be in BW10 which starts tomorrow 8 March. It will be at the dealership this week, BW10.
BW1 started on 4 January 2010, BW2 on 11 January and so on.
Hope you find this helpful.
