I've had some terrible experiences with vw stealerships.  The odd few are OK tho.

the one in woking has got a few good people behind the parts counter :D

all garages are a rip off, main dealers are even dearer but at least they put good parts in your car :P

As the old saying goes, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask  ;D There's a very good reason why they are called stealerships  :o
......now officially dubless.

better still.. use a local vw specialist.. the one i use now is run by 2 ex VAG trained guys anyways.. (originally from a local Seat stealership richardsons of wellington thats now gone tits up since they've left.. har har).

they tend to be more pragmatic and sensitive to the impact of work on your wallet ;)
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

I've never been able to fault the quality of my local dealer's work, or the convinience, or the service, or the valeting, but at ?70+ per hour labour, i say find a trusty specialist.

Having said that i intend to have services done at vw, as i think the stamp still has an effect on the value of my car, plus they give it a full inspection and while it's still under their warranty, maybe i can fleece them for a change!

However it'll only ever have the smallest inspection service at the dealer. I recently got the prices and a 20,000 mile service is ?186, a 40,000 mile service is ?280!!!!!!

The ONLY difference........  they change the plugs and air filter at 40k.  ?95 for that, i don't think i'll bother thanks.

A VR6 isn't a way of life, it's just a car.

I agree i had a bad experience when i took my 16v for a service. I got half the work i asked for done and they couldn't get the adress right on my invoice it was a complete f'#k up oh and i got a note saying my name is joe bloggsim the QUALIFIED Technition who worked on your car. All well and good but he didnt find the service book in the service flap. Forgive me if im wrong but surely a vw technition should find this on a mk2 golf......???? So i had to take it back to sort out the stamping upof my book. Hassle i didnt need, On price i thought it wasn't 2 bad But im  comparing it to the labour rate @ Audi where i work i suppose!!
