Still Leaking water
« on: 07 March 2010, 18:57 »
After thinking my leaking troubles have been cured they returned this afternoon

After curing all the likely causes , last one being the bonnet release gromit this afternoon . I poured 3 watering cans over the offending area no leak . Battle won  I thought, so I put the scuttle panels back on along with the wipers. Just to tempt fate I gave it another watering can of water, low and behold a small trickle into the footwell.

At the moment Im after inspiration. I think the only 2 choices I have are replace the screen or take the dash out to see exactly where the water is coming in. I got a quote for £50 to refit old screen if they can get it out in 1 piece or £110 for a new one.

But at the moment money is non existent and Im dubious that its coming in there any way just seems strange it didnt leak with the scuttle panels of but does with them on

Anbody any ideas

Cheers

James

Hi James

I had this problem, mine was a blocked drain hole just where the wipers are the drain hole to the left hand side was blocked and the water was coming into my car, might be worth checking this. It's under the plastic cover left hand side of the windscreen. Ho and you have to lift the bonnet up to get to it.

Try taking the door cards off and the poor water over the windows and see how it trickles down.

I had the complete inside of my car stripped, had done what you had and checked the sunroof drainage holes. Have you checked them already? Mine ended up being the door cards!

where does the water leak into the car if your sunroof holes are blocked?

Thanks for the replys guys

Drivers door is water tight now ( new window seal , door seal , plastic sheet and a lot of duck tape behind door card)

I havent got a sunroof and the drain holes are clear as the water runs out when I pour it on the corner of the car.

Its now only leaking when the scuttle panels are fitted to the car , Hence why I think its getting in around the screen.
The dash is coming out this weekend , most of the front interior has been out since before xmas so theres not much left to remove anyway.

The book of lies says you have to take the steering coloum off is this really neccesary? seems a bit extreme , it sure looks like it will come out without removing it

cheers

You don't need to but it does make life ten times easier when your doing it, specially when your on your own! Just some rather tricky maneuvers and your sorted. Remember to unbolt if from under the scuttle panel!
