Front seat removal / stripping?(yes i have read the guide and used search...)

few questions, have read rhyso's guide and am upto speed with that, am going to remove my front seat from the turb next weekend as ive noticed a bit of the seat foam on the base bolster seems to have fallen away and i can feel a metal bit underneath the cloth. I want to sort this before the said piece of metal makes its way through the cloth!!

so removing the seat as per rhyso's guide what is the next step to remove the cloth from the foam base?? ive only had a look under the seat and it appears the metal shell under the base must need to come off some how to remove the cover??

any advice on stripping the actual base of the seat would be good!!!

you need to remove the lower plastic trim - think there is about 3/4 screws

This is the guide I used although it misses out a couple of points where there is some plastic push clips which you need to unclip

cheers for that , thats a real help!! will get this seat repaired next weekend now.

no worries 

only trouble i had was removing the cover completely near the back where the backrest adjuster is - ended up cutting the cloth around that part

removed seat as per guides, stripped and repaired old recaro foam that seemed to be crumbling.... all good on that side..

but disconnecting the battery for a couple of hours whilst doing repair to avoid any un-expected seat airbag sh!t going off seems to have made it run like a pile of crap.... if id have know that id have done the risk removing the seat without doing the battery!! , car now dosnt start 1st time every time and is lumpy as f00k on tick over and feels underpower'd , did over 200 miles in it yesterday and it was fine, smooth and great on fuel.. , wish id have left it now as i cant be doing with all this crap just from disconnecting the battery!!

any ideas on why its not happy?

Disconnecting battery for an hour/so resets ECU to default and then it adapts again over 26 or so mile.

Whatever the issue is will have already been there.

Vagcom it, see if anythings showing.
