Since i bought my golf gt tdi (110) in September, i always knew the handling was a bit stodgy (loose to say the least)

the previous owner said it was the engine mounts, but i checked it out it wasnt.

finally after rectifying the main issues with my clutch/gearbox, i knew my bushes were worn, so i thort id sort them out and dropped my car off at garage on fri, i said "check front and rear bushes and you may aswell change the thermostat too.

I called the garage later in the day after he had investigated and priced the job up..

The garage goes:

front bushes totally knackered
rear bushes totally wasted
front shocker mounts knackered
front wheel bearings knackered
also add the thermostat job.

he quoted me £235 all in, i was like "ok, just do, im sure if i hunted around i could probably get it done cheaper.

Is this a decent price?

i want to know as i will know for next time.

I spoke to garage on sat, he also showed me the front spring which had snapped, like wat go on there, so i was driving around with a broken spring, i knew i cud feel summat weird in the last week or so...

he said the spring is abt £30, i checked euro car parts, seems abt right..  as i realised i was spending a fair bit of wonga with i waited for a few minutes to see if i could think of any freebies i could make him do, well he is re adjusting my headlamps, they were pointing to the sky before...lol

That seems like a fair price to be honest.
