A labour of love (wheel refurb progress...)
« on: 05 March 2010, 20:11 »
Just finished sanding one of my Monza reps and I've gotta say I haven't done bad

I bought these from Jonny with the intention of polishing them right up but I don't think I could keep on top of the constant care they would need to keep them shiny. Anyways here's how they are now, just been acetoned off and now await a few coats of lacquer with a quick 500 sand in between each

started with 180 grit to get rid of the lacquer and water damage to the surface and also to remove the ribbed effect that the diamond cutting leaves...

after this I had to wet sand with 320 then a final sand with 500 to key them ready for the lacquer

I've got another one of them sat here that hasn't been started so I'll take a pic of how bad it looks

it's not my arms, it's my fingers

Gonna set up my little spraying booth in the shed 2moro and get the first coat of lacquer on. Will borrow the works oven to finally cook them all off
