Sorry havn't been on here in a long while

I have recently relocated back to Cape Town SA (World cup :grin:) and have also taken my car back with me. Problem i have is the highest octane is 95 and my car was apparently mapped for 99?

Question is will i have any issues ie: fueling etc with this fuel? Car does seem to like it though.

Car took 19 days from Southampton to Port Elizabeth and i have done some cosmetic mods like colour coding etc. Will post pics soon, perhaps with some '08 mk1's :wink:

Most mk4 gti's are mapped over here but i leave them behind from about 3rd onwards so BIGUP to Rtech!!

I think the cars electronics etc will adjust to the lower octane ok.

The only trouble you'll have is if when you had it mapped they mapped it on the condition you would only use a higher octane fuel.  Some people do this cus I think you get a few more BHP this way!

I'm sure Missuers RTECH will answer your question though.

Oh i see......ok so just waiting for the reply regarding the octane....anyone :undecided:

Why not give Nick a ring and ask him?

From what I can tell, you'll run fine on 95, but it'll "prefer" 98 or 99.  Nick might be able to do you another map designed for best 95 performance.

Hey yes it's the same as the UK....Petrol is R7.50 per litre which if you convert works out to about 60p per litre....

There are many fuel additives like Afgas etc that takes the 95 ron to 102.6 ron, so not sure if that'll work?

Car does seem to lke it though and i even saw 42.6mpg which is  :laugh: :laugh: cause the most i ever saw in the UK was 36.5. Also saw the outside temp gauge at 40.5 deg celcius which instantly kills the power....lol
