20vt question??????????? removing DV
« on: 05 March 2010, 16:17 »
now i know u cant install blow off dump valves (sh*t anyway ) on these engines as it will result in car going into safe mode, but what would happen if you remove standard dv and bung up the holes so u have NO dv at all, would this also result in safe mode coming into play????

cheers Ash

how long have u had this installed tho? ive heard after time due to some sensors that the safe mode will come into action. doesnt happen straight away tho.

i just want to remove the standard DV and not have one at all as i dont like them. i prefer the sound of a turbo chattering to a DV (thats just my opinion)

I don't think it's advisable due to the back pressure putting a massive strain on the bearings and blades whenever you change gear...

the turbo will chatter it nuts of with no DV, if you are running high boost and no DV this can result in bent throttle plate, but thats the least of the worries, it just aint good for the turbo

As previously said, you can run an atmospheric dump valve on an AUG with no issues, or little.

An AUM or later will have running issues if a recirculating valve (or partly) isn't used.

The reason we have a DV in the first place is to help the turbo. if you block this up it puts a lot of strain on the turbo that want to spin. If you do this the turbo starts to stall. the noise you hear and like is the air coming back through the air filter side, as it has no where to go.
Like what has been said befor you can put, a dump to atmoshear Dv on a AGU as thay dont have as many censers on them compeared to other 20v engings. Some times it might stall now and agane but its not as problematick as the other 20v engings.
TRANSFORM, & ROLL OUT!
