Putting a crossflow head on my 8v...

Was thinking of putting my 8v on throttlebodies, and was told best bet would be to put a 1.6 mk4 Golf crossflow head on it so I can put the bodies on the front. As I don't have the money to put it all on now, I wouldn't be able to jsut put the head straight on would I, because the inlet would be on the other side of the car right? I'd need to do it all at once yea? I was thinking about putting the head on and wondering if I'd see any gains

and realise how much it's cost me to get to this point.

Then realise you might as well spend £500 converting to an ABF and get a proper engine instead.

Hmm I'm not after mega power, as I want to put a 1.8t in eventually, jus wanna dick about with an 8v with all those world reversing torques :D will check that link when I get on a pc :) cheers

Errr, if you want a 1.8T then you're chasing power.

Lol no what I meant was I don't want mega power out of the 8v, 'cause I'm planning on getting the power from the 1.8t. I just want to make it a bit faster now, as it's been the same for a year, and it's getting a bit boring

Throttle bodies will be a massive headache and cost you £0000's. Complete waste of time and money in my honest opinion.

If you are going to do then yes you'd have to do it all at once and literally uprate the whole bottom end to match the power gains i recon. Lots and lots of engineering and specialist mechanics knowledge would be needed, not cheap.

Mine will rev to +7000RPM on stock 2E bottom end.

Can't say pulling the bottom end apart would be top of my list if I do get to throttlebodies on 8V.

After all, if the bottom end lets go it's not hard to find another.

8V crossflow head: under £100
Headwork and reposition oil return: £250
Head gasket: £20
Megasquirt DIY: £300
Wideband lambda box DIY: £100
Wideband lambda sensor: £70
TB manifold £2-300
Bike TBs: £100
OEM Top hose (no outlet on front of head): £70
Rolling road session: £100+
Odds & sods: £100
Look on 16V boys faces when you tell them it's an 8V: £priceless.

hey i dont know if this is any use, but i looked at this for when i had a mini but im just thinking about it and this may and i meen may work for your golf, look at a fiat punto head crossflow 8v or 16v i had been researching this and i have also seen a mini A series running with this head mated to it on youtube, i wonder if this could be done on the golf. this mod can be done and i have been developing the idea for a 1275 a series but in theory... well i dono, just look it up :)

im new and dont know much about the golfs technical specs yet, i also have a 1.3 with the intention of playing around with 1.3 because i think it has potential
