Rear lights question
« on: 02 March 2010, 18:01 »
Firstly I have searched and done some digging around but got lost in it all!

I'm after some replacement rear light clusters for me brothers mk3 (he's got a 1.8GL project).  He's mentioned before liking smoked ones (plain bulbs, not LED etc).  As its a gift I'd like to get him some new ones (which rules out GTi):
Which ones are half clear/smoked and half red/smoked?
Some have bulbs visible, but prefer ones that don't.
What they called, are they made by FK?

Show me some pics or links fitted if possible please.

Talk to me!!

There is only one type of GTI rear lights and it's this:

If you've seen something else, then it's either customized or some aftermarket lights.

Cheers peeps!

Those ones in the link look great, just what he told me he was after.  Looking at the image, the bulbs are obscured, is that correct with those FK ones?

I personally like the original GTi clusters and have seen a few sets on eBay, however I wanted to get him something new, boxed etc.  Anyways I'm sure sticking GTi bits on a GL is frowned upon!

I still think the standard GTI / VR6 ones are the best bet, some of the aftermarket ones let water into the boot.
