I wonder if VW, when they hear of recurring problems, try to fix them immediately, ie if they hear of this lock problem, might they fix it on the assembly line so that mine, apparently being built now, will have had the problem removed...??

I know it's easy to say but it just shouldn't happen - locks should work - German cars do not top the car reliabilty tables in response to surveys - Hondas and Mazdas etc seem always to finish at the top - that's my experience of Japanese and German cars....I hope the Golf won't let me down - that said, my wife had a Golf Tdi 100 bhp years ago and we both loved it.

Kev, some GTi's did this when the mkv came out.
The settings can be changed in the driver display thingy.
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

Never had a prob till now though mate. I've opened the doors the same way every day. One click when Im driving on my own, 2 clicks for the driver and passenger doors. So I've changed nothing.

No, I changed mine in the MFD to one-click.  I still sometimes find the passenger door or the boot locked when I want in.  Which is a bloody nuisance when you have an armful of messages.

I thought i had done this through the MFD also but apparently not. It can be done through VAGCOM, and now opens all doors at the saem time with one click. Never used to before.

For me, for some reason my 2 keys are set up differently.

My key unlocks all doors and the boot on 1 press, on my wifes 1 press will only open the driver's door and a second press opens the passenger door and the boot.

My MFD is set up as 1 press.

Bit annoying, but seeing as I do 99% of the driving it doesn't bother me too much

Went to dealers this morning, got told I wasnt booked in !

Silly b1tch said I can leave the car, was told I'd get courtesy car but I gotta pay for it, then told id need to get insurance through my own insurance company, a weeks worth

Turned round and drove away, going to goto the dealers i bought the car from. This is the reason why I ditched Verve (Rutherglen) in the first place, they are retards.

It may depend on which key you had in the ignition at the time you set the MFD it I know with the touareg memory settings you put the key in turn the ignition set the memory seats to where you want them and the steering wheel etc and depending on what key you have in and the car remembers which key you are using.

Not tried it with my golf though but that might be the reason it different on each key?
