Looks much better than the Vancouvers, but still strikes me as "wannabe GTI"

If I wanted a gti I would of bought one!

Yeah, it's the black gunge I don't like. The standard 17" Monzas aren't that bad...

I saw a Mk5 GTI on 18 inch Monzas and they looked no where near as nice as the Mk6 design with the black inserts.   Grey inserts just looked dull IMHO

I'm still going to stick my 4 pen'orth in. Every person (and I mean everybody) who has ever commented on my car has said how much they love the Monzas. Now, I've said before I like lots of other wheels but I still think they're iconic alloys i.e. they are the Golf GTi and there's nothing else like them.
Every time I clean mine I think they look fantastic. So as Frog says each to one's taste.

The GTD by the way looks very nice with them on but I agree with the comment that it's a wannabee GTi.

It looks good. Ignore me :afro:
MKV GTI | Reflex Silver | 5-dr | Anthracite 17" | Manual | Highline MFD | Cruise | Revision 'D' DV | Dirty Pipes |

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

What rubbish is that you are talking about the GTD is wannabee GTI. I am gonna say to now the GTD that I have just bought is an awasome car so much so that its better than the ED30!! I have had five Mk5 GTI's over the last 6 years, The new GTD has taken it to new level , the torque in it is endless. Yes the GTI is a very nice car infact brilliant, but having had my car since Monday the GTD is an outstanding car, my mrs didnt even know it was a diesel or my mate he asked me if it was petrol!! My ED30 was noisy and rattled in the engine which sounded like a diesel??Some people on this forum tend to slate the GTD the reason is they dont have a clue what they are talking about?? The fact is they havent driven the car ! IMHO its better than the GTI sorry guy's!! :smug:

I really have to back up Steve30 here.
No, I have never driven a GTI, I do have a GTD (though I`m not driving my OWN GTD at the mo ),
And I have to say, it really is amazing !
Blasting down the A55 in Wales on Monday was fantastic, and the sound from the engine was totally different to the Passat diesel I got rid of.
