when i was looking at the golf i considered the r26 but thought it was too much of a chavvy track car. Too harsh and too stripped out for very little benefit. I like my toys and gadgets and couldn't resist the rns 510 sat nav

my ed 30 is now over 3yrs old, and am thinking of replacing it soon, but what with. i really like the look of the megane 250 rs, but would be worried about what it would be worth after 3yrs. that leaves me with focus rs, or mk 6 gti. what would you all choose?

I'll say from the off I picked a MK6 (hence me being here)

I had no experience in GTI's before this car, so perhaps I don't feel the need for change as you would.

Of the focus and the Megane 250, I would pick the RS 250.

- IMO the RS 250 looks better (the focus just attracts too much attention for my liking - looks like a space ship).
- round a track the RS250 is quicker
- I think the RS 250 is cheaper
- The RS 250 will defo lose more for depreciation (problem with French cars) but I reckon it would offer more fun, more comfort, less unwanted attention, better consumption and a better change from the Ed30 than the focus.

Also all the reviews of the RS250 are excellent.

I haven't said anything here to defend the Mk6 GTI... perhaps that says it all

...or mk 6 gti. What would you all choose?

One of these - ED30, R32, MKVI GTI, S3 Sp'back, S4...       (VAG whore )

Of the focus and the Megane 250, I would pick the RS 250.

^^^ as would I. The scary residuals might put me off, but I really like it in white.

The GTD is like a blow up doll. The GTI is like a proper woman. Sure the doll might last longer, and the woman might have higher running costs, but which would you rather have?

have you seen what audi are asking for an S3? i think its being replaced soon as well!the focus is a bit chavvie, but does look very nice in the flesh, just dont know if i could own a ford :undecided:as you say, the megane is a great car, but will be worth next to nothing in a few years time. that leaves mk6 golf or golf R. my ed 30 is bluefinned, but from what i've been hearing/reading, some mk6 golfs are making 220-225 bhp, about the same as a standard ed30, so i may have to try and get a test drive in a dsg version and see how it compares, i know stevep is doing a few performance mods to his at the moment and will be interested to see how that comes out.

.....

er, the S3 and R are pretty much the same running gear... and the S3 is cheaper, even before a discount!

You are right though, next year a new A3/S3 will be here, but so will a five-cylinder RS3 with about 350bhp.

IMO, VW just isn't a 'premium' enough brand to demand £30k+ for a Golf.

To the OP :: I like the Renaultsport brand :afro:
